For some, this will be their first trip abroad. Others have travel afar on bus tours or cruise ships. Many have visited larger cities but have not ventured into the countryside. Most are a little concerned about merely renting a car in a foreign country, let alone driving one! Let me say; you’ve been missing out! We want to encourage you to become a more independent and confident traveler. We have given a lot of thought to choosing our ‘home base.” You will be surprised at the diversity of sights and experiences that lie no more than a 30-minute drive away. While we strongly encourage you to use some form of GPS, be it your phone or in your rental car, you will find nearly all of the trips are easy to navigate. Often we will travel in caravans to a neighboring farmer’s market. From there, depending on what else you wish to do or see that afternoon, you will enjoy the independence that a car provides you. Many times you will have “buddied up” with others with a similar itinerary in mind. Most of the activity recommendations will be in the village you are visiting or very nearby, but you have the luxury of extending further if you wish.
