Creating New Friendships

Generous Helping hopes to create the vacation of your lifetime and along the way, create new and lasting friends to share both the vacation and the memories with. One overwhelming benefit of international travel is relocating to a (please excuse the pun) foreign location; a destination so new and captivating that you forget about home and work. Vacations are often taken to remove stress, and it’s often been heard that it took the first week just to “wind down”. Generous Helping offers vacations in pastoral settings, accommodations that are plush, relaxing and authentic. But we feel this is only half of the equation…

People are another wonderful distraction when one wants to “really get away.” You’ll find Generous Helping vacations to be very people centric. You’ll rub shoulders with the local chefs hired to prepare your Welcome! dinner on the evening of your arrival. You’ll take strolls with the Estate Guardian, talking about gardens and renovations and history. We make certain that any tour guides you might choose are not only very knowledgable, but fun! The heart of these trips are the guests themselves. People like you who share a love of life and learning and laughter. Candid people with stories different from your own. It is fair to say our family suppers are the highlight of the trip. Guests who choose to be involved congregate in the kitchen to slice or shuck or toss; to dress the plates before they are taken to the outdoor dining table. Or perhaps you are drawn to the outdoor grill where serious calculations about flame and temperature are interspersed with banter about sports and hobbies. You might choose to join the others avoiding the cooking activities and recap your day, poolside, a glass of wine in hand.

Once at the table the candles are lit, the courses are served and the stories unfold. Some conversations are alive with laughter while others are spoken in hushed tones.

Activities the following day are discussed and carpools are chosen, “shall we go to the museum and grab lunch afterward?” “A long bike ride tomorrow sounds great!” “I was thinking about a day of total relaxation around the pool myself!”

Generous Helping vacations are limited to 15-20 guests per week, a perfect number for a week of dinner parties, large enough for variety and small enough for intimacy.
